Bioenergy Crete S.A. is the owner and operator of SYCHEM’s flagship biogas power plant in the Industrial Area of Heraklion, Crete.
Designed and constructed entirely by SYCHEM Group, the plant integrates advanced technologies across all key process stages, including organic waste reception and handling, automated separation, odor control, heat recovery, and biological treatment of digestate.
With an installed capacity of 500 kW, expandable up to 2 MW, the facility provides an efficient solution for demanding organic waste streams such as slaughterhouse residues, livestock and poultry waste, expired food products, and other biodegradable materials.
By combining automated operation, controlled emissions, full reuse of generated thermal energy, and advanced wastewater treatment, Bioenergy Crete is designed to become a European reference model for reliable, environmentally responsible, and cost-effective organic waste management in an urban industrial setting.
