SYCHEM is proud to participate in CRETE VALLEY, a flagship European project that aims to transform Crete into a Renewable Energy Valley and a living laboratory for clean, decentralised and affordable energy. Co-funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe program, CRETE VALLEY brings together 41 consortium partners and focuses on the development of four Community Energy Labs across Crete.
These labs are designed to demonstrate how local communities can meet their energy needs through renewable energy sources, smart technologies, and innovative business models.
Within the framework of the project, SYCHEM contributes its long-standing expertise in energy-saving technologies, geothermal systems, and integrated engineering solutions.
In Arvi, one of the project’s key pilot communities, SYCHEM is actively involved in the development of a community energy system that combines geothermal energy with photovoltaic power generation, aiming to provide clean and cost-effective energy for local households.
The first 20 homes in Arvi are expected to be connected to the community geothermal network, marking an important step toward practical energy autonomy at a local level. Through this initiative, CRETE VALLEY demonstrates how renewable energy systems can deliver tangible benefits to citizens, reduce energy costs, and support the wider transition to sustainable communities.
SYCHEM’s participation in CRETE VALLEY reflects the group’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the development of advanced infrastructure that responds to the needs of both people and the environment. By bringing together technical know-how, renewable energy technologies, and community-focused solutions, SYCHEM continues to contribute to projects that can serve as models for Greece and Europe.
