Project in Detail

The Oval

The Oval in Limassol, Cyprus, is a landmark office development and the first building in Cyprus, as well as one of the few in Southern Europe, equipped with an advanced de-centralized open-loop geo-exchange system. Designed for Cybarco – Lanitis Group, with ATKINS UK and Armeftis CY as architects, the project included the complete design and implementation of the mechanical installations, BMS systems, and a seawater-based geo-exchange network serving independent water source heat pumps for each office. The system exploits the area’s geothermal potential, using groundwater flowing approximately 15 m below the building at a stable temperature of around 22°C, even during peak summer conditions. With 1,100 kW of cooling capacity, 700 kW of heating capacity, a total built-up area of 16,850 m², and a 20-storey service elevation profile, The Oval represents a high-performance, energy-efficient building services solution for modern office developments.
