The Curie-osity robotics team from Heraklion, Crete, achieved an important European distinction with its innovative project, Seewache – The Guardian of the Sea, winning 1st place in the Future League competition for sustainability, organized by Science on Stage Europe.
The team, formed by students of the 1st EKFE Heraklion, stood out among 60 projects from across Greece and went on to represent the country at European level.
Their robotic mini-submarine combines STEM education, environmental awareness, and practical innovation, offering a creative approach to the monitoring and protection of the marine environment.
SYCHEM supported the team as sponsor, contributing to the students’ participation and helping them bring their project to a wider European audience.

This achievement highlights the value of investing in young people, science, and applied technology. It also reflects the importance of connecting education with real environmental challenges, particularly in areas such as water, sustainability, and marine protection.
SYCHEM warmly congratulates the students, teachers, and mentors of the Curie-osity Seewache team for their outstanding work and their successful representation of Greece in Europe.
