Skiathos Hotel Association and Sychem, as the main sponsor, organized with great success an educational seminar for Water Treatment in tourist accommodation, attracting many participants.
The seminar focusing in Water treatment and energy saving in tourist accommodations took place on Sunday 12 May 2019 at the Cultural Events Center in Bourtzi, Skiathos.
Specialized engineers from Sychem, Grundfos and Water Activity with expertise in public health, water treatment and energy saving processes and equipment presented important and critical aspects for Hotels regarding water & energy saving.
The causes of water contamination in tourist accommodations and troubleshooting of all problems related with water use, wastewater treatment plants and pools were discussed, presenting modern and innovative water treatment methods that achieve the desired results with the ability of energy saving and low cost for operation and maintenance simultaneously.
Focusing on water uses, the technology of desalination with reverse osmosis was extensively discussed for potable water production at a low cost and water reuse with ultrafiltration for wastewater treatment plants.
Also, the possibility and the benefits of combined systems for potable water production and hotels’ heating/cooling systems with geo-exchange (heat pumps) were presented, showing the large-scale energy saving and low operational cost.
Special topic of discussion was about Legionella, the causes of Legionnaires‘ disease and the methods of prevention and treatment, presenting a special, innovative water purification equipment that is proved quite effective for this problem.
